Touched by an Angel

It's that time of year again. The Victoria Secret Fashion show outlines the new holiday trends of under attire. Over the past couple years, the shows get more and more extravagant and I feel as with the whole recession scare, this show was lacking.

The over styled outfits and accessories took away from the relevantly cute undergarments. Furthermore, the innovative but unsuccessful angel wings, took away from the original wings the models sported over the past couple seasons. I feel as it this show has just become WAY to commercialized and that it has lost the angelic essence that it used to embrace. Moreover, these models are looking a little too skinny and even make me feel bad my body.

Sidenote: Behati (girl on the left) looks great! I saw her in New York this summer and she truly is a vision....

Cowboy Boots, Jean, and lot of Fur!

So I've been obsessed with this song "I Love You Baby" by Gloria Gaynor and can't help to dance. In the video I'm wearing a simple white v neck and skinnies, but I accessorized with fur, jean, and a pair of MINT cowboy boots my friend has. Listen to the song and DANCE!

Find a Gap

Recently I've been seeing a lot of editorials of Lara Stone, high fashion model, and I've been SO SO SO inspired by her gapped tooth. Although some may hate the fact that their teeth have been genetically separated in the middle, this characteristic of a model seems to embrace such a signature and unique look.

Lara Stone, Georgia Jagger, and Lauren Hutton are just some of phenomenal women who can grace this odd and special quality. What are your thoughts? Do you think you could work the gap tooth? Let me know what you think!!!

Part Like the Sea

It started with Balenciaga and turned into a full grown obsession. Ever since the Spring/Summer 2007 collection where NicolasGhesquiere showed his models walking strong down the runway with a straight middle parted hair I was obsessed with that hair style.

Then it trickled down to celebrity style...

And after a year of me pestering my best friend to do it...IT HAPPENED!

Ladies and gentleman....THE MIDDLE IS HERE TO STAY!

Not for everyone though....

Walk That Sweet Talk

All models on the runway have their signature walk. You can look back to the day of the supermodel where this whole trend of personalizing such a simple task of walking could in the end make your model status rise. Today, there is one runway walk that you can spot from a mile away. Seventeen year old Karlie Kloss is a regular on the runway scene and over the 2 years of her career has already gained a monthly editorial spread in Vogue magazine.

Just look at her runway pictures, you can see those mile long legs just sway and glide along the catwalk. She is actual perfection in my eyes. So pure and alluring, yet fierce at the same way. I can't get enough of her. What do you guys think?

Cause All I See Are Stilettos

It seems as if the heels these days are just getting high and higher and more impractical. However, that impracticality appeals to my eyes! Here are 4 of my favorite heels from the Spring 2010 and Fall 2009 collections...

Burburry Spring 2010 Alexander McQueen Spring 2010
Nina Ricci Fall 2009 John Galliano Fall 2009

This is my definition of SHOE PORN! I think that pure essence of fantasy within all of these shoes just takes my mind off all of the worlds problems. Okay, maybe not that intense but they certainly make me happy. What do you guys think? Could you work Nina Ricci's heel-less shoe? Or John Galliano's tie up strappy pom-pom wooden heel? Let me know what you think!

Mr. James Dean

My mother tried to define my style once and compared it to James Dean. Personally, I was flattered that my mother referenced my style to such an influential actor. Mr. Dean's style kind of embraces that bad boy look which at times I try to embrace. My Ray Ban aviators definitely make me feel like such a tough biker at time which I love. =P

Here's my interpretation of his style...

Blazer: Brooklyn Industries
Shirt: American Apparel
Jeans: Nudie
Shoes: Sperry
Clutch: Vintage Louis Vuitton

Shoes for CHOO!

H&M is one of my favorite stores for fulfilling my style needs at an affordable price. Every so often influential designers will design a limited edition collection for this affordable department store. Designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Karl Largerfeld, and Victor and Rolf, are all designers who have taken part in this trend of designer clothes for an affordable price. On November 14th, Jimmy Choo will be releasing an exclusive shoe and apparel collection for H&M. Now if I were a girl I know I would be camping out the night before to ensure I grab a pair of shoes designed by such an influential shoe designer. As amazing as this is, IT GETS BETTER! They are doing a men's collection!!!

Obviously I am trekking it back to Toronto to wait in a cold line-up in hope of grabbing a pair of those fierce suede boots. I went to the Roberto Cavalli opening about two years ago and this is what is looks like...

As crazy as it it...I LOVE IT! The rush of pushing and fighting for a piece of clothing ensures that what I'm buying is a HOT COMMODITY! Visit the H&M website to take a further look at the collection!!

It Takes Two

This Halloween brought forth the chance to haute couture my simple halloween costumes I bought at the costume store. The night before halloween I dressed up as a fisherman. I jazzed up my outfit by adding sequin tight biker shorts under the Columbia overall shorts I got at value village. My roommate Kirsten dressed up as the fisherman's friend and I pulled her look. The white skinny jeans, striped top and hat were all mine and I'm so happy I pressured her into wearing her yellow rainboots!

On the actual night of Halloween, my best friend and I dressed up as Batman and Robin. My costume was a kids costume I had customized to be more fashion forward. I cut the legs off of the costume and added a pair of leathery leggings. I also added a thick fierce brown eyebrow to animate my face. As aggressive as they were I loved it.

Overall, Halloween is a great time to be courageous and go crazy with your style. My adjustments to my costumes allowed me to come third place at a costume contest! It's all about adding your personal style to classic Halloween costumes. What were you guys for Halloween? Let me know...

Australian Angel

Abbey Lee-Kershaw caught my attention after watching the Flora by Gucci ad campaign. After seeing her rock the runways for top designers in major cities I looked into her more to find some of her editorials. This chick can WORK! Look at some of these pictures...

She just knows how to pose and isn't shy of the camera. A lot of her work is nude actually but so tasteful. Click here to go look at more of her editorial but also check out her Gucci ad and interview below...ENJOY

NYC INSPIRE ME

Jak and Jil is one of my favorite blogs to go on just because it outlines fashion editors, models, and photographers at major events wearing all the latest trends. When Tommy (creator of Jak and Jil), posted a photograph of Fashion Editor of Harper's Bazaar Russia, Miroslava Mikheeva-Duma, I was totally inspired by her look. The fur vest and Chanel bag matched with a simple "I Love New York" hoodie is the definition of effortlessly chic.

So I basically copied the entire look! I absolutely love my new fur vest. It was my mom's old mink coat that I had cut into a vest. It's so fierce. People on campus have stared and made rude comments about it but I don't care, London, Ontario, simplly does not know real fashion!

Check out Jak and Jil to see more close up outfits of people I dream to be when I grow up!!!

Ukrainian Virgin Brides

I've been really inspired by the weather lately and I keep thinking of John Galliano's Fall/Winter 2009 collection. In the words of Rachel Zoe...I DIE!!! This collection blew my mind. As I looked for pictures from the show, I literally could not stop staring and drooling over EVERY piece. As extravagant as the clothes may have been, it is PURE John Galliano.

My favorite part of the show I think were the shoes...HAND DOWN! What are your opinions ladies? And guys?

Style.com always reports on the best shows and I just LOVE Raquel Zimmerman's interview. Her accent is beautiful, and so is everything else about this show...ENJOY
